🚨 WHY GREECE GETS F35s DESPITE HAVING S300s AND WHY TURKEY SHOULD NOT NO MATTER WHAT 🚨

Here’s the factual difference most people in Turkey and beyond keep ignoring.
Greece did not buy S300s in a defiant anti NATO move like Turkey did with the S400 but ended up with them in the late 1990s as the direct result of a US & EU brokered diplomatic compromise to prevent war between two NATO members over Cyprus.

Facts:
▪️Cyprus bought the S300s from Russia in 1997 because of Turkish air superiority and overflights. Turkey threatened pre-emptive strikes and even war if they were deployed on the island
▪️Greece, bound by its defense pact with Cyprus, backed the purchase and said it would defend the island
▪️The US strongly opposed deployment on Cyprus but also warned Turkey against attacking. US diplomacy pushed hard for de-escalation.
▪️In December 1998, Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides announced the missiles would not go to Cyprus, instead diverted to Crete with the agreement of Greek PM Costas Simitis which was welcomed by the US and EU

This was not Greece thumbing its nose at NATO, it was a Western approved solution to stop a war between Greece and Turkey.

Turkey bought the S400 despite repeated, explicit warnings from the US especially from president Trump that it would:
▪️Violate CAATSA sanctions law
▪️Get Turkey kicked out of the F-35 program
▪️Create a serious security risk because Russian systems could potentially compromise F35 stealth and data links

Turkey’s leadership chose to proceed anyway. That’s why 🇹🇷 was removed from the F35 program.

Greece:
▪️Got the old S300s in the late 1990s under a US/EU-brokered deal during a specific crisis
▪️Has been a consistent NATO ally
▪️Is now buying up to 40 F-35s with full US approval
▪️Greece is actively de-Russifying its inventory and transferring its old S300s away

The situations are not equivalent, one was a 1990s crisis resolution deal that Washington and Brussels supported to keep the peace, t a he other was a deliberate 21st century choice to buy Russian strategic systems while ignoring allied red lines on a program Turkey was already part of.
You can call it whatever you want, but pretending these are the same thing is just selective history. Greece operated within a Western approved framework, while Turkey chose a different path and paid the predictable price.

The sale of our top F-35 jets and jet engines to the terrorist-supporting, Putin ally, and Iranian aligned Erdogan is simply indefensible.  He is actively threatening Israel and Greece (which is also a NATO member).  The Islamist thug has destroyed Turkish society.  He has been sanctioned by our Congress for acquiring S-400 advanced mobile SAMs from Putin.  Is this sale in violation of the sanctions?  I checked this morning.  Erdogan has not returned the SAMs to Russia.  

Hamas is not disarmed (Phase II of peace plan) and Iran is still kicking and receiving billions.  Why arm up Turkey, which has greater ambitions in the region, and add fuel to the fire?  Its NATO membership pre-dates Erdogan and is no excuse for selling him any of this advanced weaponry.  His intention is to re-create something akin to the Ottoman Empire.  Let's not do what even Biden wouldn't do.
