Governor Abbott today announced more than $22 million in Texas Energy Fund grants to strengthen electric reliability in the Texas Panhandle.
The projects will increase substation capacity, improve power restoration capabilities, and upgrade transmission infrastructure.
Data centers must bring their own power, they must reuse their own water, and they must reduce electricity costs for residential and small business customers.
We will slash incentives and protect Texas neighborhoods.
Those are bottom line expectations.
We represented landowners at this meeting, and it's clear the Commissioners have been presented with persuasive info from stakeholders to pause routing until the Dino line proceeds further.
Attorneys and landowners alike had many critiques of the 180 day "process"

765-kV Update: In the @PUCTX meeting today, the commissioners voted to abate consideration of the Drill Hole-Longshore line (blue) until the Longshore-Dinosaur line (red) catches up in the process and reaches the PUC. The LD line is currently under challenge at SOAH. #txlege
Texas ranchers and livestock producers are critical to our state’s economy and way of life.
The @TXGLO stands ready to do its part to help stop the spread of the New World Screwworm and protect Texas agriculture. 🌟🇺🇸
The Texas House Agriculture & Livestock Cmte will hold a hearing Thursday on the New World screwworm. Invited testimony only, meaning we'll likely hear from state/federal officials, landowner groups, etc.
This is the first #txlege NWS hearing since the first detection June 3.
Texas grew faster than every major state economy over the past 25 years, expanding it's share of the U.S. economy more than any other state.
Our latest report examines how the #txeconomy became a growing driver of American prosperity. Here are 3 key findings. 👇🧵
We’re thrilled to share that The National Agricultural Law Center will join @AmAgLaw as co-host of the 2026 Annual Symposium in Dallas!
This partnership reflects the deep, shared commitment both organizations have to advancing agricultural law education and serving the ag law community.
Together, we’re looking forward to delivering an outstanding event.
AALA will continue leading the educational programming and symposium design, and we’re already hard at work building an incredible program.

There are now 5 confirmed cases of New World screwworm in the US, @USDA@SecRollins says in Kerrville.
Four Texas cases:
- Two calves in Zavala County
- One calf in LaSalle Co.
- A goat in Gillespie Co.
One in New Mexico:
- A dog from Lea Co. (previously reported as a TX case)
Excellent thread by Chairman Guillen detailing what the House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock did in preparation for the arrival on #NWS#txlege
We started coordinating with witnesses on our next hearing on NWS and Interim Charge 2 from Speaker Burrows last month, and will soon be announcing a date and time for it.

The @TexasTribune asked me for a comment about a House member calling for a hearing on the New World Screwworm, and here’s what I told them:
I have been working with Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary Brooke Rollins, Commissioner Sid Miller, the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, the cattle industry, and wildlife groups to help make every tool available to address the New World Screwworm. The House has held hearings, made this an interim charge, and will hold more hearings as necessary to help. As election season approaches, I am glad to see more House members begin to recognize the importance of the cattle and beef industry to Texas.
This morning, I joined Governor Greg Abbott in Austin for a briefing on the recent New World Screwworm case in South Texas, alongside state officials, federal partners, and industry leaders.
Shortly after the meeting, Governor Abbott signed an emergency declaration expanding access to every available state resource to accelerate the response to New World Screwworm. As a South Texas rancher and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, I believe this marks an important step forward in strengthening Texas’ response and ensuring our producers, landowners, and communities have the support they need.
The Texas Animal Health Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and other state resources are fully mobilized to support surveillance, reporting, response coordination, and public information efforts. Texas is committed to fighting this pest and supporting federal efforts in every capacity necessary to protect our ranchers, wildlife, and communities.
As always, vigilance is critical. Producers, landowners, and animal owners should monitor animals for suspicious wounds or larvae and immediately report any suspected case to animal health officials.
LIVE @GregAbbott_TX highlights what needs to be done to prevent the spread.
Here's what Texans can do right now: Check your animals daily for any wounds—even small ones like tick bites or newborn navels.
Treat wounds promptly and reduce fly populations around your operations.
“This is likely to spread over the course of the summer. During winter months, it may kill off the flies or reduce their number,” @GregAbbott_TX says.
Notes that he’s pushing to complete construction on Texas’ sterile fly production facility in Mission by May 2027.
NWS presser starts after 90 min briefing.
Gov. @GregAbbott_TX issues an updated MWS disaster declaration to allocate more resources and address the appearance of screwworm in Texas.
