Whatever its status under the First Amendment, the so-called TikTok law serves to limit and control speech. Remember: It doesn’t just apply to TikTok. That’s a key fact that is consistently overlooked.

It’s an effort to intimidate U.S. owners of social media companies (again, not just TikTok) with a threat of forced divestment if they don’t comply with potentially unlawful government demands. Play ball or face accusations you’re “subject to the direction or control” of a foreign adversary.

The more the right cooperates with libertarians the more popular they become.

The more libertarians cooperate with the right the more wins they will rack up.

The right has been losing for years because they have treated libertarians as inferior.

Libertarians have treated the right as if they have no ability to get better on critical issues.

The real sweet spot is taking the GOP infrastructure and infusing libertarian ideas within it.

This has seemed like a fool’s errand for decades, but this relationship is closer than ever to being functional and fundamentally changing the way politics works in America.

Can’t hurt to try.
