Wooden Kedar Temple
Pictures from consecration ceremony in Kedar Temple of Bhataad (भटाड़) village, Uttarakhand (June, 2025).
We see a continuity in architectural use of wood in Jaunsar-Bawar region, whereas, it has almost disappeared from contemporary Kumaon and Garhwal.
Shyauldu(श्यौलदु) is an idol made from buckwheat by the Shauka Johari community for weddings and religious ceremonies. When a newly married bride arrives at the groom's home, the couple breaks the Shyauldu together. It is called Shildu in Rongpa and Dhalang in Rang tribe.
And Kangchendzonga said, I shall finally reveal myself!
Here she rises above the ever-present clouds that will drape the landscape for a few months.

🌺🌿 Patwa (Meizotropis pellita), a Critically #Endangered#shrub, is found only in Patwadangar near #Nainital , #Uttarakhand .
Surviving in a habitat of less than 10 km², with its brilliant red blooms and velvety foliage, symbolizes the unique #biodiversity of the #Kumaon 🏔️ 🍀
Kedarnath is witnessing such massive crowds that even people are now stuck in traffic.
The question is no longer about record numbers, but about how much the Himalayan ecosystem and infrastructure can realistically handle.
