This is what I think the future looks like.
Every number in our phone book will be a bot that we talk with directly, and it works on our behalf.
Everyone is trying to win the "ai assistant for all things" but I don't think it's a winner take all market.
Problem here, I think, is the humans.
Humans don't like all-in-one things. Swiss Army knives exist. Many people own them, but most people don't.
Sporks are clearly better than spoons and forks, but when's the last time you used one? Do any of you own one at home?
I think it's going to be the same thing with AI agents. One long, persistent thread for everything is a confusing psychological mess.
You're going to want agents specifically designed for the task that you're doing.
@textpartyline is for going out and meeting friends.
@instinct_inc is for tackling your to-do list.
Indeed @bot , I think, does it really well with channels, but if you don't get the user to download your app, you're cooked.
That's why the best AI assistant lives where you already are: in iMessage, and that's why your contact book is where you have the channels of your agents.
This isn't a winner-takes-all market, but it's going to be an exceptionally large market, so even smaller players are going to be worth hundreds of billions.
