@ConorRyan_93 Don Sweeney deserves credit. But he is unwilling to change his philosophy on what “skill” means and it has continued to hurt this club. I hope Poitras and Hagens get real chances next year, but I’m worried
@redsoxstats Can I tinfoil hat for a minute? Between this whiff rate and some of the misreads in center…is something going on with Rafaela’s eyes? Did he change prescriptions and it’s wrong? Some of the balls he’s missed out there I would have expected him to get to when he’s at his best
@wyshynski Play in game is fine if the league goes back to 1-8 seeding. Bruins having to play a play-in when they would be in 2nd in the metro right now would be exceptionally cruel
As devastating as today’s loss was for Santa Clara alums & fans who eagerly anticipated our 1st NCAA Tournament Appearance in 30 years, I want to put in perspective how grateful I am for what this SCU program has achieved
I arrived at Santa Clara as a freshman in the fall of 2014. In my four years on the Mission Campus, the Broncos went 53-74 (41.7%) & 32-40 (44.4%) in WCC
When Herb Sendek arrived as Head Coach prior to the 2016-17 season (my junior year) the program had 4 20-win seasons in 20 years since last NCAA Tournament Trip in 1996 (Steve Nash led Broncos went to 3 NCAAT in 4 Yrs)
The program just completed its winningest five-year stretch in history (both overall & in @WCChoops play) beginning with the 2021-22 season. In the 5-year span @SantaClaraHoops:
-Went 111-57 (66%) & 58-25 WCC (70%)
-Had 5 straight 20-win seasons (had previously never had more than 3)
-Set record for most WCC wins in a single season (15-3 this year)
-T-2nd most wins in a single season (26 this year)
-Went to 1st WCC Title Game this season since 2007
-Beat Gonzaga for 1st time since 2011 (2024 ended 26-game losing streak)
-Beat Zags in Spokane for 1st time since 2007 (2025 was 1st road win over Top-25 opponent since 1993)
-Beat #22 Saint Mary’s in 2022 for 1st win over ranked opponent since 2004 (ended 43-game losing streak vs ranked opponents)
And of course, Santa Clara produced back-to-back NBA 1st Round Picks (Jalen Williams, 2022, #12 by Thunder & Brandin Podziemski, 2023, #19 by Warriors) to become one of five programs w/ B2B Top-20 picks in those two seasons (Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky)
Despite today’s heartbreaking loss in St. Louis to Kentucky, this program is in the best place it’s been in a long time🙌
Hats off to the 2025-2026 team for a remarkable season that we will always remember & to every player & coach that has had a hand in this program’s remarkable resurgence🫡
@Thomasdunn24 Brownridge was the exact type of guard that makes march legends, it is such a shame we never saw him in the tourney. Today really is for all of them. ‘Sco Cos
@redsoxstats I’m all in favor of offense…but don’t catchers have a hard enough job without needing to give base stealers another few tenths of a second to get to the base?
