Our University City, Hickory Grove and Independence Divisions, along with our Motors Unit, recently conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation at the W.T. Harris Blvd and North Tryon St. intersection due to a high number of crashes in the area. With our patrol officers identifying red-light violations as a major factor of these collisions, this operation was organized to directly address this issue. This operation is a strong example of proactive, information‑driven policing, using data to guide enforcement and improve safety where it’s needed most.
This two-hour operation resulted in 54 traffic stops with 64 total charges for the following violations:
· Failure to Stop at a Red light - 41
· Expired or Invalid Registration - 6
· Driving While License Revoked - 2
· No Operating License - 3
· Window Tint Violation - 3
· Driving Without a Seatbelt - 4
· Texting While Driving - 1
· Expired or Invalid Insurance - 1
· Other - 3
Greg Biffle's second act was as good if not better than the first.
Yes, he was a tremendous driver that won a bunch of races.
But the second act was Greg the humanitarian - the selfless guy that answered calls for help to a degree that should earn him sainthood.
Be like Greg.
Preliminary information indicates one CMPD officer suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries.
CMPD is not looking for any suspects at this time, and there is no danger to the public. This is an active investigation and all further updates will come from CMPD Public Affairs.
Our son Aero was born with Craniosynostosis. He had surgery 12/18/23 and wears a helmet.
I created my platform, the P.U.R.P.L.E. Ribbon Project, to ensure no family feels alone in their craniosynostosis journey. 💜

“Today is a heavy day. The last 24 hours have truly been heartbreaking for all. We are continuing to support and lean on our law enforcement community as we navigate yesterday’s tragic attack on officers. My prayers go out to the family and friends of @CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer and the families of the three other officers killed yesterday afternoon. Officer Eyer, @NCCorrection Officers Samuel Poloche and William Elliott and @USMarshalsHQ Deputy Thomas Weeks made the ultimate sacrifice. Their lives and service will never be forgotten.”
