Propaganda Unmasked: How Qatar and Turkey’s Media Machine Is Fueling False Narratives Against Puntland and the UAE
The so-called “expert” investigative journalists are once again caught red-handed spreading disinformation, this time linking Puntland and the UAE to Sudan’s RSF crisis through an absurd web of fabricated connections.
In a shocking display of amateur journalism, one such “investigator” used an image from #Somaliland, claiming it showed “Bosaso, Puntland,” and calling it a “bridge to Ethiopia.” The problem? The geography, facts, and context are all wrong, completely exposing the hollow nature of this propaganda campaign.
Here’s how the lie unravels:
The narrative being spun claims that Ethiopia is serving as a “transit hub” between South Sudan and Sudan’s RSF, essentially dragging #Ethiopia into a conflict it has no role in. The timing is no coincidence. The person pushing this propaganda has a history of anti-Ethiopian government bias and is now working overtime to smear Addis Ababa and its regional partners.
Behind the curtain lies a familiar pattern: Turkish and Qatari-backed networks like Middle East Eye (MEE), Al Jazeera Plus (AJ+), and TRT Afrika act as megaphones for Mogadishu’s CBB and MBB propaganda arms, groups funded by Doha and Ankara to manipulate regional narratives.
This is the same playbook used in Sudan, #Somalia, and across the Horn of Africa: Qatar and #Turkey bankroll media operations to push their preferred storyline, then those same media outputs are recycled by their proxies, the very governments and militias that paid for them, as “independent sources.”
In truth, the UAE and #Puntland have been at the forefront of counterterrorism efforts in the Horn, building stability, ports, and infrastructure that have benefited the region for decades. Their partnership has strengthened maritime security, reduced extremist activity, and fostered trade, achievements that stand in direct contrast to the chaos sown by Turkish and Qatari-funded networks.
If there’s a real investigation to be done, it’s into #Qatar and Turkey’s financing of extremist proxies and media propaganda, the same networks responsible for destabilizing Sudan, fueling divisions in Somalia, and now attempting to defame Puntland and its allies.
The world should not be fooled. The real architects of instability are not in Bosaso or Abu Dhabi; they’re sitting in Doha and Ankara, pulling the strings of their media puppets and hiding behind the mask of “journalism.”
