At the UN General Assembly, Trump, in very casual language, talks about annihilating another country. The room stays quiet. No collective protest. No formal objection.

The US *has* bombed Iran, in clear violation of international law.

The US *has* kidnapped Venezuela's head of state and is in the process of looting the country's natural resources, in clear violation of international law.

The US *has* tightened its blockade on Cuba, in clear violation of international law.

Then there is, of course, the genocide in Gaza, for which the US has provided unconditional support.

After World War II, the US was one of the primary architects of a system meant to encourage global cooperation. But the US has consistently broken that system's rules to advance its imperial interests.

The system has therefore lost all its legitimacy.

My friend took his 4-year-old daughter to Urgent Care on a Sunday for a high fever and a bad cough.

They were in the building for 35 minutes. A nurse took her vitals, and a doctor spent 4 minutes looking in her throat before prescribing generic amoxicillin.

The total bill came out to $1,240.

His insurance plan paid $180. The rest went straight to his "in-network deductible."

He called the billing department to ask how 4 minutes with a doctor costs $1,060 out of pocket.

The representative said: "That’s the pre-negotiated rate set by your insurer."

We built a healthcare system where paying $500 a month for coverage doesn't cover medical care…… it just buys you the right to be charged thousands for a 5-minute visit.

* An Israeli "double tap" strike kills a 15-year-old boy, Mohammad Abdul Zinati, as well as an injured paramedic, Sharif Shadi Labad, he was trying to help.

* An Israeli strike on an improvised cafe in a refugee camp kills a five-year-old child, Udai.

* Israeli forces kill an eight-month pregnant woman, Iman Shalouf, by shooting her in the head.

* An Israeli air strike kills two sisters, Bana (6) and Lana (12), along with their parents, while they were sleeping.

* Israeli gunfire kills three girls in separate attacks: Saadi (3), Wafaa (8) and Obaida (9).

During the 11-month "ceasefire", Israel has killed more than 1,370 Palestinians and maimed at least 4,630. Over the same period, Israel says five soldiers have died in combat in Gaza.
