Being around young athletes continues to show me that so much more is possible.
Creating a belief that barriers can be broken, then watching these athletes break those barriers they deemed too difficult is remarkable.
Limits are learned. It's time to break through the barriers.
As a young athlete, I competed to prove I was the best.
As an older athlete, I compete to show what's possible when you allow God to be glorified through the talents he's given me.
Success is great, failure is humbling, but God is always honored in my performance.
Two different people can put the same amount of work in but if one doesn't understand pacing, their performances can be drastically different.
Learn how to pace properly at your current stage in life and then you have a tool to use as you grow into bigger and better things.
Teaching athletes how to pace their efforts properly is a foundational piece of athletic success.
Run out of energy too early - performance suffers
Finish with too much "left in the tank" - performance suffers
Execute efficiently throughout - performance rewards you.
Once we understand pacing we can exponentially improve performance with properly applied training.
We've all seen comedians with great jokes have horrible sets because their timing (pacing) was off. When they fix their timing, the jokes hit to explosive laughter.
I can't tell you how many times I've had the thought
"If anyone can do it, I can do it"
And how many times I've followed through on that thought - doing something other people thought wasn't possible.
We are only limited by our beliefs.
Random thought during my strength workout this morning:
"Maybe this fall is when I go after my first 100 mile week."
Thoughts only distance runners have.

7/29/17... I decided that to become the expert in my field I want to be, I had to start reading to educate myself on health, wellness, and mastering life.
In the past 9 years, I've read 192 books with a total of over 45,000 pages.
That doesn't include having read through the Bible twice in that timeframe.
This year, I actually read a book first then saw the movie (Project Hail Mary) - my 15 yr old self would have said that's a waste of time.
I grew up hating to read with a passion. I got a D in 4th grade reading simply b/c I didn't care to read and do the book reports.
I had to be locked in my parents bedroom with my summer reading books in school b/c I didn't want to read them.
2016 started a business...
Juan T. brings home the State Title in the UIL 2A 1600m after 6th place in the 3200m
Cristiano gets 4th place in both 1600m & 3200m
8th State Title in 8 days for my training group. 4 of those titles in the 1600m.
TAPPS State Track Meet
Final tally for my 8 athletes (not counting relays):
1st Place x 7
2nd Place x 1
3rd Place x 2
4th Place x 2
8th Place x2
Very Proud Coach!!!!
Two more athletes competing at UIL State meet on Friday.
Belief is a strong predictor in our lives.
Believe you can do something and you may be able to achieve it.
Believe something is not possible for you and it will never happen.
Belief doesn't guarantee success but not believing guarantees failure.
I tend to get excited when my athletes or clients say "that seems hard."
That means I've given them a challenge that I know they can do but they have to become someone new to achieve.
Maybe you aren't making it because you don't truly believe what you think you want is possible. Or what you are chasing is not really what will make you happy.
You think you can't make it?
There are millionaires you've never heard of in industries you don't know exist.
There are people making the average American income who are happy, healthy, and loving the life they live.
