@tigerleegolf So, achieving the target weight distribution, a longer wheelbase was adopted . The challenge was to reduce the weight around the uprights to reduce the increase in yaw moment of inertia.
There may be some trade-offs. What do you think are the disadvantages of a long wheelbase?
@tigerleegolf Our skidpad simulations showed that the weight distribution is much more dependent on time than the wheelbase. Also, if the yaw moment of inertia is not increased, an increase in wheelbase improves yaw response and convergence. It is also effective in terms of aero.
@NaturalParadigm We considered doing something similar on one of our FSAE cars. We tried to design an unsprung undertray, removing the pitch/roll/heave interactions and staying in optimal ground effect. But we weren’t confident we could build one that was stiff/secure enough for the loading.
