Greetings all, this William Banks again with an update regarding my dad.

First, I want to say thank you so much to everyone who has liked and commented on here. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the prognosis right now is not good.

My dad sustained bilateral pulmonary contusions (bruised lungs), resulting in a severe hemothorax (his chest cavity filled with blood), as well as a Grade 1 liver laceration. The bleeding is under control for now, but there are concerns about the possibility of a clot becoming dislodged and causing further bleeding.

His spine is severely compromised. The C2–C4 region (his neck) sustained substantial trauma, resulting in complete paralysis of his left arm. His right arm and hand have limited mobility and function. Additionally, these injuries have compromised his ability to breathe and maintain his blood pressure independently. As a result, he is currently dependent on a ventilator and vasopressors.

The T8–T12 region (his back) also sustained massive injuries, those vertebrae and portion of the spinal cord were crushed. The medical consensus is that he will never walk again.

An MRI of his brain revealed minor ischemic injury (tissue damage caused by insufficient blood flow) in his motor cortex. However, his higher cognitive functions appear to be intact. He is able to answer yes-or-no questions by blinking, as well as track people and objects with his eyes.

Frankly, there are about a million things that could go sideways here. Even in the best-case scenario, life will never be the same.

Please continue to keep my dad and our family in your prayers. I appreciate each and every one of you, and I cannot thank you enough for your support.

Though staying overnight is unlikely. It would take a miracle for things to be able to fall into place just right to allow that during a weekday.

It says it’s going to rain so I hope travels aren’t unsafe like last weeks.

Nova really needs me especially with such a brutal surgery taking place again. I am overwhelmed. I am emotionally tapped. I am just distracted and sad, and my kids are feeling the damage. 💔 I just need my full family home & together and everything else can come after.

Let’s hope this result of taking out the jaw hardware goes better than the surgery of putting it in.

Good morning friends. It’s 4:40 am I woke up at 4:30 am. I guess I’m caught up on my sleep after leaving the hospital. So far feeling good today like yesterday. Sam is still in bed she gets up around 7:00 or 8:00am. Hopefully with all of your prayers Jesus Christ is going to heal me. After forty years in front of the camera, I’ll be directing my first feature film, SO HELP ME GOD: a Civil War epic about a Union soldier named Albert Townsend, who should have received the Medal of Honor but didn’t.
Clerical error.
I learned of Albert through his descendants’ archival research. What I found was more than an injustice waiting to be corrected. It was a story of friendship and extraordinary courage: an unassuming young man becoming a soldier who held his ground, and his principles, under fire.
That’s a story worth telling on the largest possible scale. And we’re inviting the people who want to see it told to help bring it to the screen, as investors in the film through Republic.
We intend to do it justice: real cannons, one hundred horses, and the cast in period-accurate uniforms. We’ve brought on Mark Huffam, whose work includes Saving Private Ryan, Game of Thrones, and The Martian, to produce it. He knows what it takes to make an epic, and how much depends on the human story at its heart.
At the Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I introduced the project alongside Civil War historian Brad Quinlin, members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and representatives of Civil War Roundtables. We’re also supporting the campaign for Albert’s posthumous Medal of Honor. His descendants are still fighting to see his courage properly recognized.
This picture is about friendship, love, and honor — and common people rising to accomplish extraordinary things. I want to give that story everything it deserves.

Dear Father,

It's Tuesday night and I place my family before You, every single one of them.

You know their names, Father. You know their hearts. You know what they didn't say out loud today.

Cover them tonight, Father.
Cover the ones who are tired.
Cover the ones who are worried.
Cover the ones who are trying so hard to hold it together.
Cover the ones far from home and the ones right under this roof.

Let Your angels stand guard where my eyes can't.
Let Your peace walk the halls while we sleep.
Let Your healing touch the bodies that need rest and the minds that need quiet.

At 10:00 in the morning I'll know my son's fate, he has a 50/50 chance. He either breathes on his own or we have a DNR. So many friends of his flew in from all over the country. God's ears are burning, he's going to make it.
