@RabiuHLawal
I already called you out for being condescending to Golazo vendors on our WhatsApp group so I’ll be sending it here in case you didnt see it.
When vendors were expressing concerns about the ticket pricing and fear of low turn out , I kept defending Golazo to all my staff. I was at Golazo in 2023 and 2024 when I didn’t even have a physical store and I knew how good sales were for me at those two editions. Since I opened a physical store in 2024, I haven’t attended any fest or event because I didn’t think they’ll be worth the stress. I was waiting on the next edition of Golazo so when this year’s edition came, I was so sure it’d turn out well. I genuinely wasn’t bothered about the concerns being raised on the group because I TRUSTED that you guys would prove first-time vendors wrong.
Let be realistic, the event was a disaster for at least 80% of the vendors, even the attendees! If I was a first-time attendee at Golazo this year, I’ll never purchase a ticket to the event again.
1. Music didn’t come on till few minutes to 7pm fgs. Even when music came on, it was from an unsubscribed Spotify account with ads playing in the background and “world best dad” calling the phone while the music was on. Seriously?! At a Fest people paid 35,000 - 50,000 for?!
2. Light was a major issue for a lot of vendors, my light didn’t come on till about 7pm and some vendors didn’t even get light at all
3. The hype man said “welcome to Golazo” on the microphone at about 8:40pm. This is an event that was supposed to kick off by 3pm
4. I need you guys to even understand that it’s not like people didn’t even come. The turnout was extremely low in relation to what was communicated to vendors but even at that, the people that came between 3 and 5pm were visibly disgusted. Why were they at a fest that was slated to begin by 3pm and there was no music or any activity by 5pm when they were arriving. I went to pick up stuff in my car and I met some of my customers (outside of Golazo) leaving because there was “no vibe”.
We need to be realistic with ourselves, the execution of the event was extremely poor. I sell clothes and accessories, it’s easy for me to pack up all my stuff back to the store even after making huge loss, but what about the food vendors?!
I tried my best to patronize about 5 food and drink vendors and some vendors also patronized me. At some point, I mentally checked out of the event and I didn’t even enjoy whatever was going on as an attendee.
C’mon, I’ve been at two other editions of Golazo and I enjoyed both from my stall. This was a disaster!
I honestly had the intention of still showing up for the next edition, trusting that whatever went wrong this year would be rectified and Golazo would be back to its old state, but the content of this tweet and the message you sent on WhatsApp? Extremely condescending, I shall never be there again.
@Adikastakes Enough already…we always forget these footballers are human too…guy was born there and lived all his life there…achieved everything…there’s nothing wrong in stepping out….not everyone will be like Gerrard…at this point,I wish him the best❤️
