Disagree on solo play though: pump up the difficulty and it's tough as hell, with that classic Halo feel. Cortana looks fine to me. Sadly on social media a game is either a 10/10 masterpiece or woke bugged trash. No in-between.

Finished Halo: Campaign Evolved 🎮

25 years later and this game still holds up in gameplay. Between the original, anniversary (2011) and this, I've probably played it over a dozen times and it never gets old, which is a testament to old Bungie's impeccable design.

On a visual level it's a gorgeous remake of one of my favorite games of all time. Environments and character models look great, lighting is super impressive and thoughtful, and it gave all the levels even more life.

I was a lot more mixed on Anniversary's changes back then but Halo Studios did an excellent job with UE5 technically and artistically here.

The addition of some 'new' mechanics like sprinting and ADS actually weren't a detriment to the game in my opinion. They didn't break anything and felt like sensible additions that fit.

I also liked some of the improvements in level readability and design, especially in missions like 343 Guilty Spark and The Library. Could just be me but it felt like there was a huge difficulty spike in The Maw - maybe I was just a little rusty.

The only gripe I have is that I'm a bit more mixed on the redone voice acting. Some of the line delivery is genuinely improved in certain scenes, but others seem changed just for the sake of change, especially some of Jen Taylor's lines as Cortana. Changes in the inflection of her voice and mannerisms gave some of the scenes a different tone that I don't necessarily feel were improvements.

Still, I had a blast overall. Love Halo so much, love the world, love Chief and Cortana, and I was so happy to experience it all over again in a beautiful new coat of paint.
