@tony_schofield Did we not just pay the Nuffield Trust and The Kings Fund to do just that? It’s not more plans we need, it’s competent negotiators and local engagement.

Firstly, the GMC don’t get to decide prescribing rights.
Secondly, nurses and pharmacists have been fighting for breathing space in primary care for 20+ years. PAs can join the queue and everyone else can shut the hell up.
The BMA is not blameless in this.
@BBCHughPym Let's guess the GMCs next move -introduce PAs with a 2 yr course, give them prescribing rights and dump them on the public instead of Drs. This GMC leadership is dire. Try asking them hard questions - it's your job. Dr's welfare & patient safety has never been in worse hands.
