Happy 80th to India and high fives to all Indians.

Bangalore and I have not always had cordial relations. I have only ever been to Bangalore maybe 10 times or so. And in that period the city has given me malaria, asthma and then Covid.

So far.

What fresh hell awaits I wonder.

But this week’s trip has been exceptional.

For the last 7 months I have been running a solo strat comms business helping early-stage and growth-stage companies tell stories that move money.

The trip was a chance to meet founders and investors, deploy ideas, flaunt capability, and hopefully seduce new clients. All of which went very well. Business is going well, thank you for asking.

Along the way, over the last week. I have met people, many of them young, all of them outrageous and annoying, building unthinkable things.

Planes. Boats. Quantum sensors. New computing interfaces. Robots. Rockets. A medical scanner in your pocket. An editor for genes. AI that builds buildings. The best ac in the world.

Five years ago when I came to Bangalore everyone was making B2B SaaS. Now everyone is making whatever. What. Ev. Er.

The youths are absolutely out of control.

Now as I Uber to the airport to go back home, I wish they all succeed. I wish you all succeed.

Many of you young people are being handed large sums of money to make hard dreams come true.

In an overwhelmingly poor country this automatically makes you some of the luckiest young Indians to ever live. I hope you all feel this. And are driven by this.

And I wish you all succeed not just for yourselves and your families and your investors. But also for the jobs you will create, and the families you will change forever through these jobs.

On this Independence Day if you seek to do one patriotic thing then let it be this: Succeed. Prosper. But also help prosper. Create jobs.

Take all that luck and spread it around. This is your personal tryst with destiny.
