Superpositive wrecking ball of goodness. Like putting your finger in an electrical outlet in a good way. @BKCHarvard, @ALA_Core, @mitlibraries, @wikilibrary ✨🎉
@DGlaucomflecken JFC in case you didn't have enough reasons to hate private equity, have you seen this @BostonGlobe series?! https://t.co/ahg6uMT2U1 , https://t.co/21CabErt3B ...
@violetbfox Even IF your remarks were in violation of the CoC (itself here problematic but that's not relevant to the argument), there are multiple more normal ways they could have handled it!! Talk to you, take down the post, post a follow-up, add a separate inline CLEARLY MARKED edit...
@violetbfox Feeling pretty okay about my decision to rage-quit the ALA code of conduct committee literally in the middle of a meeting once and also WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.
@Gastropodcast So I just listened to this (and immediately decided my breakfast plan is union square donuts), but also wondered: have you read @ryka_aoki 's Light from Uncommon Stars? Among many other things (violins, queer identity, demonic bargains...) it's a story of an immigrant donut shop.
@patio11 He actually ran into my husband and daughter on their way to school. It was all hilariously awkward.
To my knowledge, they never patched the bug.
@patio11 Ok so. In MA (this varies by state) the school district can require you to file a notice of intent to homeschool. BUT there is no process, as you note, for telling them about private school.
So when we switched homeschool->private, we got a truant officer on our porch.
@anarchivist what a joyless existence
and also a notion of music that is purely focused on consumption??? like. I enjoy music I can _sing along_ to. I enjoy hearing how singers handled the line and thinking about whether I can do that too.
@zunguzungu how....how can you grow an honestly fairly middling state university THAT much three seconds before the demographic cliff
(also my mom was instrumental in growing the now-threatened women's & gender studies department SO yeah kinda bitter here)
@qwrrty Just make sure he's got all his paperwork in hand and organized (not everyone does and THEY STILL COPE but they are appreciative when you have your act together :)
OMG, arrived. Five whole hours before our taxi to the airport.
This would 100% not have been possible without a very helpful staffer in @RepPressley 's office, which is a ridiculous way to run a passport system, but a great way to run a congressional office.
PSA: if you need to renew a US passport in the next few months, you're already doomed. @StateDept is too overwhelmed to even pick up the phone; we put in my daughter's renewal, EXPEDITED, in March, and don't have it yet. Getting on a plane Monday. In theory 🤷♀️
@qwrrty - i was outside the building, passport in hand, at, IIRC, 4:07pm
That 4pm line was a truly fun experience, tbqh. Two dozen people with nothing in common other than urgent international travel plans. Nervousness made people talkative, fizzy. Supervising official was charismatic.
