@pcgamer I'm old enough to remember when the appeal of the burgeoning MMO genre was 'virtual life' aspect, building, creating and socializing, not just queuing quests and chasing the next level-up ding.

@pcgamer A fascinating take on the MMO genre, that toxic communities are an almost inevitable byproduct of the competitive nature of the games' structure. To be honest, that can probably be traced back directly to EverQuest and WoW imprinting their style on the genre as a whole.
