A CM Punk heel turn in a story with Cody absolutely will not work.

We’ve already been through this. It didn’t work with Orton, and it barely worked with Cena.

Sure, because of John’s talent and the fact that he quickly moved into storylines with Randy, Punk, and Truth, he did get booed. But that can hardly be called a successful story of a hero turning into a villain.

I will never believe that fans are going to turn against Punk and cheer for the American Nightmare.

It would take an exceptionally good story, with the Best in the World doing some truly dirty work, for that to happen. And I’m not sure they can do it, or even that they would want to.

Right now, there is only one man who needs to become the bad guy, ladies and gentlemen. And that man is Cody Rhodes.

This has been begging to happen for a long time. But it takes balls.
