Thomas Insel, director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) from 2002-2015, acknowledged in 2011, “Whatever we’ve been doing for 5 decades, it ain’t working. When I look at the numbers—the number of suicides, the number of disabilities, the mortality data—it’s abysmal, and it’s not getting any better.”
I used to believe this so much that I’d tell people exactly what my psychiatrist told me: “Some people have type 1 diabetes. You would never tell them to try living without insulin. The same goes for me- I just happen to have a chemical imbalance, and I need to take SSRIs to live.”
I was so brainwashed. 🙃
When I interviewed Dr Robert Spitzer, the architect of the modern DSM, I asked why so many psychiatrists involved in its development had financial ties to the pharma industry. “To be frank,” he replied, “it’s incredibly difficult nowadays to find any experts who don't have them.”
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s OK to disagree with your doctor and not do what they say if it doesn’t sound right to you.
Outside of an emergency situation, never feel any pressure to do what your doctor says. Take your time, do research, get second opinions—AND HECK YES— ask AI !!
The era of some doctors thinking they know it all, acting like arrogant pricks, and having a monopoly on knowledge is well and truly over
US psychiatrist Daniel Morehead disinforms his readers totally about psychiatric drug harms. Most horribly, he argues that antidepressants reduce suicides in young people but the study he quotes shows the opposite! https://t.co/orDrZPxZ2a. Some psychiatrists should be in jail.
Please note, the psychiatric fan club don't like the findings of this survey (which was open to everyone who had had ECT) and so they tried to shoot the messenger. However, the results speak for themselves.
Thanks to the pandemic, I am now questioning…..
- all vaccines
- Tylenol
- psychiatric medications
- organ donation and the definition of brain death
- cholesterol-lowering meds
… and the list will likely continue to grow.
Sorry for the late post but do y'all remember that FDA panel where @DrMcFillin , @DrJosefWD , @joannamoncrieff , @AdamUrato1 and @DrDavidHealy spoke at the FDA panel about dangers of SSRI use in pregnancy and the media went off on them for "misinformation"?
Well I found my old SSRI container from 5 years ago and read the warnings. Since even the drug companies warned about adverse effects, why do uncritical pro-psychiatry ideologues have to lie? That's because psychiatry is not an honest science.

Nearly half of all newborn babies, whose mothers were taking 1 or 2 psych drugs, experience drug withdrawal. This rises to 73% of newborns if mothers were taking 3 or more drugs…😳
An Indian politician says Hanuman, not Neil Armstrong, was the first space traveler.
Next up: Wright brothers learn they were beaten by Pushpak Vimaan.
That old chestnut…This is outdated because, unlike diabetes or high blood pressure, psychiatry has no clear biological markers—these drugs don’t correct a proven imbalance, they mainly modify symptoms and can cause dependence.
