I actually hate that this game is guaranteed to be successful because it's so obvious this is their trojan horse into getting rid of physical permanently
biggest BS ever
Physical only doesn't make sense to fucking shareholders. Especially for gamers they DO make sense.
But these companies don't make games for gamers anymore. They're making them for shareholders.
Since PS6 is going all digital, just get a PC.
Both will be expensive af but you don't need to pay to play online on PC, games discounts are WAY better, far more options and can run even better if you've got the hardware.
Let Playstation have a Wii U generation.
The don’t give a shit. Best thing to do now is make sure you champion for digital ownership laws or less DRM at this point.
Or just start pirating since everything is a rental now anyways.
sad reality is most people are okay with mass surveillance. i'm kind of at a point of just saying fuck it.
if you wanna keep yourself safe and private their will be ways to do so with things like Linux, Graphene and self-hosted services. if you give a fuck then use them.
It’s been almost a month since Sony officially announced that it would stop producing physical discs in several markets.
Most people only look at short-term success. I’ve seen this pattern before.
When I said Game Pass wasn’t a sustainable longterm strategy, people laughed because all they saw was “$10 a month for hundreds of games.” When I argued that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision would create more lonrterm problems than benefits, I was told I had no idea what I was talking about. Not long after Microsoft laid off more than 10,000 employees.
Yeah PlayStation will most likely have a record breaking year thanks to GTA VI. But that’s not the point. The real question is whether Sonys current strategy is built for the next decade or just the next financial report.
A huge portion of PlayStation’s revenue comes from players who mainly play Call of Duty, EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, GTA or Fortnite. These players are overwhelmingly digital and often stick to the same few games for years. They’re not necessarily loyal to PlayStation they’re loyal to the games they play. If another platform offers a better deal or a better ecosystem, many of them will switch without much hesitation.
The people who truly built the PlayStation brand are the hardcore fans: the collectors, enthusiasts, and long-time supporters. Ironically they’re also the group Sony seems most willing to alienate. Many of them already own multiple platforms, making it easier than ever to stop buying PlayStation hardware and software altogether.
A company can ignore its core audience for a while, but not forever. The consequences won’t appear overnight. They’ll accumulate slowly, year after year, until one day everyone wonders what went wrong. We’ve already seen PlayStation learn this lesson once during the PS3 era.
Success can create confidence. But when confidence turns into arrogance, history has a habit of repeating itself.

Reminder that walmart failed in Germany because they didn’t give a fuck about labour laws and customers and employees hated the American fake friendliness
Last week, Playstation PSN was down. Today, XBOX has been down for over 15 hours
Clearly, they don't have the infrastructure to be digital only for consoles. Physical games NEED to be an option for people no matter (with offline play)
PLAYSTATION GOES DARK ON AUGUST 23

sony ends disc production for every new playstation game in january 2028.
a new release becomes a download, or a box with a code in it.
the petition is approaching 350,000 verified names.
sony's public reply, twenty-six days in: nothing.
so the community stopped asking politely.
engagement is the number sony leads with every quarter, ahead of hardware.
the published figure only samples the last month of a quarter.
the internal dashboards read every single day.
a week-shaped hole in late august lands on someone's desk long before
november does.
a petition needs sony to choose to read it.
an empty server counts itself.

going dark on the 23rd? reply with your timezone.
Sony wants to abandon fans? Let's give them a small taste of their own medicine!
Together with other creators we call for a 1 week #PSBlackout in August. No logins, no play sessions, no purchases on any of Sony's platforms.
I don't think you guys understand what's a stake here. It's not even about preserving physical discs anymore. If Sony gets their way, we will ALL pay the consequences. They'll know they can simply ignore us and do whatever they want to us because we will put up with it.
