@therealkrupster @SimonMahan It’s almost like $2-3B HVDC ties aren’t the economic or reliability “no brainer” some people suggest they are and yes those are the same people that can’t make it work commercially without subsidies or the government shoving it down ratepayers throats.

Next severe winter storm that extends all the way to the valley with peak demand occurring when there is no sun and batteries are fully depleted is gonna be a wild ride.

A significant misunderstanding amongst many ERCOT participants is thinking that total load drives pricing.

Net load (demand less renewable generation) drives pricing in ERCOT more than load. Prices spiked yesterday in HE20 to near $5,000/MWh when Net load peaked. At this point total load was 13GW below the peak of the day
