@subzey Если заглянешь в GPUI, то поймешь на сколько все печально, уже кучу форков наплодили что бы пофиксить то до чего команде Zed честно говоря уже плевать ) они могли сделать реальную конфетку, но им нужно рубить бабло на AI
@xbabtech As a software engineer with experience in embedded field I find it hard to understand why would they outsource at least firmware which is relatively easy to develop these days.
@A_R_E_S_Aim@Matrova_pad This is my first glass pad, I was watching the market for half of the year to figure out which one would fit my demand in CS2 grinding, and oi boy I'm glad I went with yin, efortless drags from an idle position this is something I was missing all the time
Did a proper comparison of a new Microsoft's tgrep to fff. tldr Microsoft somehow managed to make an indexed grep that is
1) slower than fff
2) index build time is way slower
3) index size is significantly larger
👏 👏 👏 to absolutely vibe coded codebase and even README
@huacnlee I wish Zed had a dedicated team just for the GPUI, it has so much potential but being barely developed at the moment, the whole focus right now is on AI :(
@Malix_Labs If they open source firmware and asahi project takes advantage of this, it is gonna be a huge win for humanity indeed! Hopefully the new CEO is the one who can do that move.
@neogoose_btw Well true, but searching from root "/" takes some to build the index, in my case it takes around 15 seconds and eats 2 gigs of ram, would be cool if could build the index on startup in background and offload it to disk
@ptr_to_joel I really love Java, it was my language for over decade, but we need to be realistic, it has fundamental flaws that are not going anywhere, even Java architect Brian acknowledges that Java got all the defaults wrong.
@ptr_to_joel To be fair Java doesn't have Result out of the box, and whole ecosystem is built around exceptions, for example transaction rollback and etc. Collections also throw a lot of nasty exceptions, and simply wrapping those is ugly solution.
