You probably believe having the most builder-friendly govt in India's history provides immunity. You have been right so far. But things are out of control. Do the right thing for your own families. If not at some point it will get so bad that all construction will have to be banned.

I am a Jain and for my entire childhood I have been taught to feed pigeons by my parents and grandparents. It was a habit to visit the 'kabutarkhana' after the temple.

But let me tell you some facts. The Pigeon droppings, feathers, and even dried urine contain tiny protein particles and fungal spores. If you are regularly exposed to it, you can develop scar tissue in your lungs, and it can turn into a permanent and progressive ILD.

Around 45 to 50 thousand people die from ILD every year in our country. Though not always because of pigeon but one of the causes.

Coming from a religion where I have been taught Ahmisa from childhood, I totally understand what you feel about pigeons dying from starvation, but in my family, I have seen two people dying because of ILD. It is such a painful death that I would do anything to save people from it.

Pigeons are flying rats. Do you feed rats in your home? If yes, feed pigeons in your home.
