When I heard Daytona USA was coming to the Sega Saturn, I sold all my other consoles and saved up for it. Finally got the Saturn and Daytona running at home—total mind-blow 🤯. Sure, it wasn’t quite arcade-perfect, but just being able to play it at home was enough.
By the time Dreamcast came around, the port was almost flawless. Fun fact: Saturn was almost done as a 2D machine, but after seeing PlayStation’s 3D power, Sega tweaked it late—3D performance ended up a bit lacking. Irony is, the same Sega that pioneered 3D with Virtua Racing and Virtua Fighter thought consoles weren’t ready yet.
