A highlight was meeting the amazing Ordnance trainees who are near completion of those vehicle mechanics course. First black woman officer, first black Lt Col and only woman to command a unit overseas in WW2. As CO she completed a 6 month task in 3. Achieved all this while still being active and outspoken against discrimination. Real courage.

When he did his Capt’s course at Fort Lee he wasn’t allowed in the Offrs’ club that now bears his name (it’s also no longer just an offrs club. He still mentors Generals.
The Army installation formerly known as Fort Lee became Fort Gregg-Adams during a historic redesignation ceremony at the Gregg-Adams Club April 27, 2023, becoming the first Army installation named for Black military members.
