Strong partnerships make our work possible. 🤝
Delivering environmental water relies on the knowledge of landholders and communities. These partnerships help get water to the right place at the right time when nature needs it most.

We are always proud of our Local Engagement Officers but special shout out to Chrissy Stannard for her recent Volunteer Leader of the Year Award from the Tamworth Regional Council!
The awards recognise those who strengthen their local community – we couldn’t agree more.
A CEWH Environmental Activity project is doing wonders for Moodie Swamp in Northern Victoria.
Thanks to @GBCMA and other partners!

This National Reconciliation Week we are All In, in keeping with the 2026 theme.
We demonstrate this by:
🤝Working alongside First Nations groups
✅Supporting partnerships with First Nations groups
✍️Cultural Outcomes theme through our science program, @FlowMERprogram#NRW2026
We were pleased to be at Australia’s premier water conference @AustralianWater Ozwater 2026!
In a session on First Peoples' knowledge, we jointly presented with Nari Nari Tribal Council on the topic of Environmental Water First Nations Partnerships.
Presentation and Partnership!
Great to see this work from @SQLandscapes especially the good outcomes for native fish in the Condamine-Balonne catchment.
Fish friendly screen technology has come along in flying jumps, leaps and bounds!
New technology builds confidence when seen operating effectively in real conditions. Fish friendly screens funded by the Australian Government are providing practical on-ground experience across Southern Queensland, supporting shared learning and informed decisions.
Water for the environment deliveries occur at different times in various parts of the Murray–Darling Basin.
Take a journey around our interactive map to see where and when we are delivering water for the environment:

Many CEWH staff live & work in the Murray– Darling Basin & capture photos outside work.
Today we feature a boat on Leslie Dam (Warwick, Queensland) & waterbirds in the Coorong (South Australia). From the top of the Basin to the bottom there is incredible scenery everywhere!
@NSWDCCEEW_Water has delivered environmental water to Bingera Creek since 2016. In 2024, with CEWH funding, @NSWFisheries assessed the site and found it suitable for Southern purple spotted gudgeon.

This autumn, we're working with @nswdcceew and Millewa Pumping to trial solar-powered pumping for an environmental water delivery at Bottle Bend Reserve in the NSW Lower Murray.
This trial has a way to go but a good start for lower-emission options!
Under our Environmental Activities Program, we have funded innovative projects that will support the Australasian Bittern (known as the Bunyip bird).
With the construction of wetlands in rice fields, the Bunyip bird can thrive once again!

This World Migratory Bird Day (tomorrow 9 May) we celebrate Australia’s inland waterbirds for their amazing feats of endurance & memory.
@CSIRO, funded through the CEWH, has been satellite-tracking bird movements including Royal Spoonbills shown here traversing the continent.
The CEWH works with state government Environmental Water Advisory Groups across the Murray–Darling Basin. CEWH Local Engagement Officer Tim Field joined the Campaspe EWAG for a tour along the river & discussed watering decisions plus water planning & monitoring with stakeholders.
