These catcher initiated timing picks are becoming an almost nightly occurrence.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… if you’re not incorporating these into your games, you should be!

I got asked about Mask or mask off when catching a pop up…
I said it’s a matter of preference but if you do take it off, toss it to the umpire so you don’t step on it. 😂
@jacobandrewlong Most coaches recommend you either keep it on or toss it away but it’s all a matter of preference. Tough to use two hands if you’re holding your mask but at that level, pop ups can become pretty routine.
Super athletic pick and back pick by Kirk!
Best times to back pick are on a missed or pulled back bunt attempt OR, a bounced pitch that you pick.
The base runner will almost always extend their secondary and be easy pickin’s.
One of my all-time favorite throws!
Why?
1. It’s Yadi!
2. The baby blue gear is fire!
3. He threw out Acuna!
4. The knee throw technique is 👌
He gone! 💪🔥
Here’s 30 sec of some of the best catchers in baseball receiving pitches in Shadow Zone 13 (basically down & in righty/down & away lefty).
There are consistent things the best receiving catchers do to get these pitches that are on or just off the edge of the zone called strikes.
Spent 4.5 hours today training with one of the greatest catching coaches in the country! @TheCatchingGuy thank you for all the feedback and coaching! I can’t wait to take the field Friday with my @WFPremierKotula team! @wfnationsoftbal
If you get in a LKD set up in throwing situations, option to use when runner goes is transition/hop into a traditional secondary to make throw.
Here are 2 minutes of Garrett Stubbs using this technique. Watch to end to see all of his six caught stealing’s this season.
This is NOT an easy pitch to throw on and Dillon Dingler still gets a .69 release!
When the pitch is low, especially low arm side, you have got to stay down longer to make a clean reception.
Impressive and fun to watch! 🔥💪

Whether it’s a missed hit & run sign or not, having the base runner stop because they’re out by so much is 🔥!
Bailey is tied for the most runners caught stealing this season with 12. He’s pretty fun to watch!

Some places the weather is already beautiful but in other places, like where I’m from in northern Nevada, it’s still snowing.
The beginning of the season can be chilly!

When you combine strength, mobility and good mechanics you get some amazing throws!
Watch the slo-mo of these Joe Mack throws closely. The exchange, the arm path, the arm shape, the scap load, the controlled mitt, the blocking of the front side… the list goes on and on!
🔥💪
experienced and elite catchers the concept is this… Put yourself in the best position to get a strike call while still being able to perform any other responsibilities that arise, like catching low pop ups.
Safe to say @carterjensenn is elite!
What. A. Catch! 💪
One of the arguments we hear all the time about knee down set ups is it makes the catcher slower to get up.
That may be true for some younger catchers who are still developing their strength and explosiveness but for those older more (cont.)

is a righty up vs a lefty. You need to either maintain some space away from a righty or create some space away from a lefty by utilizing the correct footwork. Fun. To. Watch! 🔥
Would you like me to help teach your catcher the difference? Message me “camps.”
Anyone else REALLY enjoy watching @henrydavis32 throw?
One of the things we discuss at every camp is the adjustments we make with our footwork depending on where the batter is standing.
