Isn't it crazy that @nytimes reports on trains as "never turning a profit" whereas we never say the same about publicly funded (aka definitely not profitable) roads which carry less volume in the same amount of space?

Today, we are thrilled to announce our Series A funding round via @TechCrunch π to help cities tackle congestion and carbon emissions at their curbs.

San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge is one of my most favorite train routes in the world. We're so lucky that this is our public transit. πͺπ

@jahorne I didn't ride NYC buses for a couple years and used Subways or Citi Bikes instead due of the uncertainty of the bus times and the barrier to figuring it out. The first time I tried it the stops were so confusing for different lines/directions on each side of the street
I think @airtable may be my new favorite tool. I'm using it for a personal CRM. Lmk if you have any killer use cases for it, happy to share my new workflow as well with anyone π
@zachweismann Slowly iterating, but have a clear vision for my next step of providing user-generated series of actions to identify the progress of a policy or some other steps that the user is taking to work on climate locally. Came up with this direction after talking to a few activists.
@zachweismann Also, realizing that some of the things we use to "savor" a day are really hurting us. Particularly "distractions" like social media, instead we need to create empty space/boredom to allow the work we do to be more creative and fulfilling
@zachweismann This is me every day! I think finding joy in the work that you're doing is important, but also finding tangible ways to get away from it. My hobby is piano, but I still sometimes feel the pull to work after being at a computer most of the day.
Attended a @BetaNYC hack night last night and came away with a new appreciation for civic tech! I've already learned so much from the community and came away with a richer understanding of how data can make cities better!
The stuff in red rises gradually but consistently to take a greater and greater share of income: I SLEEP
The stuff in blue has an immediately noticeable, short term spike after declining for decades: REAL SHIT
I've learned so much by talking to others about local climate action and hope to make https://t.co/0UhuousFh4 the most obvious way to engage with your city on climate plans, and more importantly climate action. Make sure to subscribe to https://t.co/XFUZHhm1X5 too!
I met with @katyaabaz who's writing about local government & public data at https://t.co/XFUZHhm1X5. Her latest newsletter addresses climate plans "Climate action plans are not written with data in mind, which sets us back in holding local governments to their word." ...
"...People can use the platform to browse target-by-target through their cityβs climate commitments. Community organizations can also use the platform to help compile the data from across public sources."
