@TimSweeneyEpic Malding that your Tencent owned Fortnite launcher is making less money than a service that people actually use? At this point, I doubt you are making half as much money as even GOG.
@its_me_remi@ShitpostRock Guess what, some driver developers work without auto-completion or text highlighting. This however does not give them an edge over other programmers, since they all at the end of the day have to use their critical thinking skills to solve problems. Something that AI robs you of.
@Pirat_Nation Just remember that the phrase: "Games from 10 years looked and ran better than today." is the inevitable outcome of AI in the game industry. I mean, look at E33's performance and tell me that it's acceptable.
@ShitpostRock Also, E33 is like most Unreal Engine games terribly optimized. It's clear that they used it to ship the game faster, but for established game studios or small scope projects it is more of a hindrance than a helping hand.
@ShitpostRock Yes, AI used to assist coding is in fact bad AI use. AI should be a learning tool to programmers not a tool to create production code, every line an AI generates is a liability, and it incentivizes programmers to get lazy and dependant.
@ShitpostRock Linus is a salesman, he only knows how to build pcs and how to benchmark. His opinion on the pricing of a custom SOC prebuilt computer is worthless to me. It would be like saying MKBHD says the next iPhone could cost 500$, he exists to shill products from hardware companies.
@Pirat_Nation @AnotherAxiomXR Just got banned from their discord for asking questions, also interesting to note that they are impersonating the studio behind gorilla tag.
@Charcharo I purchased this gpu for 600 euros as a student, it was a big purchase and the only gpu that made sense to buy at the time. I say this as a long time consumer that has been let down by the product i have purchased. I have the right to complain about NVIDIA just like anyone else.
@Charcharo Besides, the problem is only going to escalate if NVIDIA is the only hardware vendor that actually innovates, AMD and Intel have only been catching up and offering cheaper alternatives.
@Charcharo I have a 3060 and games look incredibly blurry with the default upscaling techniques, of course when i turn those of i lose 10 - 15 fps. At least that was my experience with: Stalker 2 and Oblivion remastered. I also used tweaked engine.inis.
@Charcharo That seems like a closer comparison. Still, the problem lies with people shouldn't be force to spend 1600 every 4 years on a new GPU just because the hardware vendor implemented a new feature that the older cards have trouble utilizing.
@Charcharo It was also released at a way higher msrp. 700$ vs 2300$. I believe with a price discrepancy like that we are not looking at hardware in the same spectrum. At least not by NVIDIA's standards.
@Charcharo For example take lumen from unreal engine 5, lumen is built to handle dynamic environments but most games utilizing it are static or have many static elements which makes it not ideal for these cases.
@Charcharo I believe the workflows forced onto developers by modern engines are to blame since they rely more on how the engine itself is made, and of course games with purpose built engines will have better performance than games made in general purpose engines.
