@BitwisePanic@KolinHuang Check if the people who stuck around logged something in week one. If they did, the fix is getting people to a first entry fast. A better feature won't change much.
@abeyhrishi Cold email, but only once I stopped sending the same message to everyone. I pick 10 people who already have the problem and write each one a personal note. Build in public works better later.
@GrounchyOnWeb@Olivershandle Look at what the few who stay do differently in those first interactions. Whatever they do that the rest skip is what I'd build the free tier around.
I launched 2 projects this year. Almost no traction. So I built Messaging Quest, it drives your brand on autopilot, posting your progress from your own accounts in your voice.
@builtwithrubel MQ is a tool I made that finds people for you, writes to them from your own accounts and follows up on autopilot. It's free at https://t.co/4w0n1BVD47, sorry the link got mangled earlier.
@gmdfounder If that sounds useful, I can pull three live threads from this week where people are explicitly looking for freelancers in your niche, what is it?
@rick_santii Try sharing a short demo reel and include a clear link to your portfolio; clients often browse that board looking for video editors. If that sounds useful, I can pull three live threads from this week where people are looking for a video editor. Need help?

I returned to what worked before: cold email.
Messaging Quest researches prospects, verifies emails, writes one personal message each and handles safe sending.
For indie founders finding customers.
The whole feed is glued to "Show HN: Microsoft releases Flint, a visualization language…". We shipped anyway.
Quiet building beats loud scrolling. Voca Vela: Stop tapping lessons. Start speaking.
A live voice tutor that teaches you by talking.

Added this feature after using Google Lens for some time and realising how unreliable it is to get the context right. Uses Nano Banana from Google to translate the photo on-the-spot.

There is an AI tutor mode too. It is for rehearsing the awkward conversation before you have it. The translation is the part that helps you on day one. If you have moved somewhere without the language, please share your hard moments here🙏

Five months ago we fled Ukraine and landed in a Portuguese village with zero of the language.
G Translate was too literal; ChatGPT voice was too slow for real talk.
So I built a real-time translator for actual conversations. Today it is live on Product Hunt.

The camera part is my favorite. Point it at a sign you can't read and it gives the whole thing back to you translated, in place. No more guessing which door says exit.
