Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died, at just 40, throwing the Nigerian film industry into mourning.

Fellow actor Alesh Sanni announced the sad news on Wednesday in an emotional Instagram post, saying he had been unable to sleep since learning of her passing. “Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again,” he wrote.

The cause of her death has not been disclosed. Osoba was a respected figure in the Yoruba movie industry, starring in several productions, including Gucci Girls, Igboro Ti Daru, and her debut film, Single Ladies. She was admired for her talent and memorable performances on screen.

Just in August 2025, she came out to announce her battle with cancer and how she’s fully ready to get back to work.
