The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP has announced the reappointment of Marilyn Howard as a Member of the SCoSS board.

Our report on the draft Social Security (Cross-border Provision, Case Transfer and Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2025 is now available.
These draft regulations amend the rules for certain benefits, requiring people moving from the rest of the UK to Scotland who receive a corresponding DWP benefit to submit a new application to Social Security Scotland.
We have made a series of recommendations in response to draft regulations aiming to introduce a new Carer Additional Person Payment and improve Young Carer Grant and Carer Support Payment.

Our report on the draft Carer’s Assistance (Young Carer Grant and Carer Support Payment) (Miscellaneous Amendment and Saving Provision) (Scotland) Regulations 2025 is now available.
The letter recommends, alongside these changes, that the Scottish Government identify more ways to offer information to people about financial support, including benefits like Universal Credit.
