And lastly, the fun part. Since I do not have enough room for a large layout, this doubles as a layout that my children can use for their Kato 10-503-1 Pocket Line Steam Locomotive.
The train is a Kato 10-1561 Aoimori Railway 701 series. The platforms are also Kato. A combination of 23-133 Local Line Platforms and 2x 23-135 Local Line Ramps.
Lastly, made a tree assembly line using @WoodlandScenics pine tree kit and put together a little shrine model to have a mountain shrine nestled in the forest. (Remember that path?) #KATOttrakprogress
Attached working LED lamp post to the one platform and glued them both in place with hot glue. In case they ever need removed, hot glue is easily removed. LED is powered my a 9 volt battery with a 410ohm resistor. #KATOttrakprogress
Attached the track with screws at the ends, glued the tunnel portals onto the mountains, and added ballast between the two tracks. I used the paint and spray bottle to help hold the track in place while the ballast glue dried. #KATOttrakprogress
Added grass to the mountains. Definitely recommend doing it outside, or somewhere you do not mind making a large mess. Gravity is also your friend for covering the steep areas. #KATOttrakprogress
Painted, for lack of a better description, the tunnel portals. Followed @WoodlandScenics video on the painting process. Except I did not do the step with the black color, as I did not happen to order it. #KATOttrakprogress
Sanded the mountains down using an orbital sander. I highly recommend using the dust collector. My shop and everything in it is now coated in foam dust.😅Fit tested everything with the track, glued it down and painted it! #KATOttrakprogress
As a side note, had my local home improvement store mix a paint sample to get the paint color I wanted and not too much of it. I used a chocolate bar for the color matching. Thought it would provide a rich soil color.
Using 4% inclines to give the bridge some height. Started painting so the bottom of the tunnels are painted. I left the unpainted parts for gluing the mountains/hills. Not sure if it matters. #KATOttrakprogress
