@RickHahnBurner I’m pretty sure this actually just saves the Sox money. They aren’t giving 250k to the Phillies, they are reducing their IFA cap and increasing the Phillies. If the Phillies use the 250k, it’ll be their own money. So, this actually saves Jerry money
@jthome21 I don’t think this team is a real competitor in the AL, but I honestly think this might be their best shot at taking advantage of a slow start from DET/KC and while Twins are rebuilding.
Winning the division = home playoff games. That’s the goal. Go for it while you can
@BuschMVP So you’re not only attempting to gatekeep sports banter to only happen between divisional fanbases, but also the month it happens?
It’s awesome and unique to be fans in a 2 team city. It seems so forced and stubborn when people claim to not care about the other team.
@Mark_Marco_C@comiskeydog1 Why? Over the past 15 full seasons the White Sox have started under .500 over their first 16 games 12 times. All 12, they also finished the regular season under .500. The three seasons that they finished at or above .500 after 16 games, they ended up winning 88, 76, 93 games.
@Ecnerwal23 In the NBA you are a lucky lotto draw or draft pick away any given year, regardless of how bad the organization is.
In MLB, you can have two of the best players to ever live on the same team and still suck (Angels Recently). Sox cannot overcome bad ownership, the Bulls might.
@SoxMach_pnoles The White Sox might have marginally improved a 102 loss team on paper and you’re not impressed?
You’re going to feel real dumb if every veteran has a career year and every young player reaches their ceiling at the same time and they win 70+ games
@SoxSideJustin Please talk me into Chase Meidroth. I dont think MLB pitchers fear him nearly enough for his minor league OBP to carry over. I seem to be in the minority about him, though.
@chgojayhawk@ElijahEv8 It’s not about the player. It’s about the process. They’ll sell us on this salary dump being a precursor to signing a starting pitcher with the “savings”, but they should be spending that money regardless of Robert’s contract.
@SoxSideJustin As fans, why do we care if the Mets took the money? It’s not our money. It is off the books next year anyways. Their payroll is bottom of the league, so this shouldn’t have to be a precursor for a future signing.
@KenWo4LiFe I agree. Not sure about the motivation part, but I definitely worry about his track record above single A. I am encouraged with his defensive metrics last year. Defense and Power can go a long way at SS even if he struggles.
