The One Thing I Wish I Knew Earlier in My Nursing Career
If I could go back in time and give my younger self just ONE piece of advice about a nursing career, it would be this… "Stop waiting for the right time. Just go for it"
So many nurses, myself, included spend years waiting waiting to feel confident enough to apply for that promotion. Waiting to have all the skills before stepping up. Waiting for the ‘perfect moment’ to start something new. But let me tell you, that moment rarely comes on its own.
I remember when I was considering a leadership role for the first time. I had the experience, I had the passion, but I kept telling myself ‘Maybe next year… Maybe after one more training… Maybe when I feel 100% ready.’ And guess what? That moment of feeling ‘fully ready’ never came.
One day, a mentor said to me: ‘Readiness is a myth. Growth happens in the doing.’ That hit me hard. So, I took the leap, applied for the role—and it changed my career forever.
Lesson: What This Means for You
Here’s the truth, your next career move, your leadership journey, your big opportunity? It’s probably already within reach. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be willing to try.
✅ Apply for that role, even if you don’t tick every box.
✅ Speak up in meetings, your voice matters.
✅ Take on challenges that scare you, growth lives outside your comfort zone.
So, what’s the one thing YOU’VE been holding back on? Drop a comment below and let’s talk about it. And if you’re ready to take charge of your nursing career, hit that follow button,we’re in this together.
Truly yours,
Kenny Oluwatosin
I sincerely hope you’re not referring to myself, cos the only people intellectually destitute are those on a whim to make out vileness out of every situation. Those who would rather die than believe someone can love their kid and give them pet names without with no iota of negativity towards their kids.
You can’t even stay on your own train of thought so why am I having this back and forth with you? Again, I put it to you that you lack love from home and that’s why this is the first thing you think of seeing someone talk about their love for their daughter. I’ve had enough with you. Now run along and find someone else to bore with your foolishness.
So from your analogy, when a woman calls her son her “second husband” jokingly, it means she’s sleeping with him, right? If you do not have anything sensible to say, please shut up. It’s annoying enough that some senseless lots have managed to twist an innocent term. Again, context is important here, you’re not more knowledgeable than the rest us, so stfu.
@COlisemeka@Nrs_Kethz You’re absolutely stupid. Whatever you hold on your neck between those two shoulders cannot possibly be housing brain cells, it’s all filled with fluid. That’s the only plausible explanation for this ridiculous response you’ve managed to string together.
What’s sexual about him calling his daughter his side chick? In your effort to sound all woke, you lots end up being pathetic. Always finding problems where there is none. Y’all lack love at home cos how would you see a man and his child and make disgusting conclusions? Y’all need to heal.
@Nrs_Kethz Don’t mind them please. It’s very easy to know people that were not loved from home. They have never experienced love and so it’s a strange phenomenon to them. Just keep doing you abeg, don’t mind these naysayers.
@dcodedboii@Nrs_Kethz You tweet just as you look: incredibly stupid. So sat down, composed this tweet and at no time did your brain point out the overt idiocy in your tweet? Perhaps, you got none. That’s the only reasonable explanation for this nonsense you call a tweet.
@MugishaLinda2@Nrs_Kethz He has a beautiful relationship with his daughter and he chooses to call her what he wants. Whatever insecurities any of you have, don’t project them on this two. Keep your thoughts to yourself please.
I hardly post my achievements online. But when I decide to do it, it is for a reason.
Essentially, to testify to the goodness of my maker who brought me this far. I know my journey, and I know how far he's brought me. You don't know it. I am a product of his mercy.
Secondly, I post to inspire my followers, who are mostly nurses and student nurses, that they can do much more.
For you miscreants, I see and read your comments. It doesn't bother me, and I won't dignify you with responses because in the midst of those and what matters, YOU ARE ONLY BUT A TINY ANT.
There must be at least that one person who can’t keep their lowly, unsolicited opinions to themselves.
Must you embarrass yourself just to score cheap points?
It’s a credit economy, anyone with half a brain knows this already. Oh well! I guess we can’t say the same for you.
10% deposit.
Balance spread over 25- 30yrs on average 4.5% annual rate increment.
U can't default in monthly payment, or else d lender will repossess d property.
You will do well to tell the whole story and not make people question God why He has not given them their own houses.
2024, God gave me and my wife a house in the UK.
Not rented, a house we can call our home right in the city of Manchester.
For a boy like me from a small village in Ekiti, this is massive, and I'm just in tears.
All these were just dreams 4 years ago when I got into this country.
For everyone seeing this, may God grant your heart desires and answer your silent prayers in Jesus name 🙏
For a very long time I stayed away from Immigration matter because it can be emotionally draining especially seeing HO refusal and trying to remove someone.
Last month was one of such time even after all the great stories/results, one of those cases got to me.
Someone was returning from Nigeria and the HO cancelled the person's visa.
We filed for AR, they upheld their decision, submitted PAP, the decision to cancel was maintained.
I was shocked 😳
Whilst still trying to put JR documents together, the person was served with Removal Direction within a week and I spent 4 sleepless nights putting the documents together.
We filed and applied to stop Removal Direction.
Within 4 hours, a Judge not only refused the application to stop Removal but also refused the application for permission to bring JR proceedings.
After almost two weeks of putting my arguments together and a Judge thinks I was talking nonsense 😭
I have never heard/experience anything like especially when i know the effort involved/time spent in putting the documents together.
We renewed and within a few hours, a hearing date was set, again in less than one week.
I have never experienced a JR this fast. I was like, what is going on 🤷
Well, the Judge who is in charge of the Oral Hearing ruled that we have an arguable case and it is in the interest of Justice to read the response of the HO and hear arguments from both sides.
I always think, if these cases can affect me emotionally, what of those directly involved.
All the good news of last month both announced and unannounced, congratulations.
Auntie'm @jeniferdennis73, I'm overly grateful to God that we got out of that dark place.
God bless us all.
