Huge thanks to @queenofcyan and everyone who came out to the first Los Angeles Bitcoin Mint Event last night.
This meetup was a bit of a social experiment.
We started this to see if we can make that art can subvert the algorithmic traps of the digital matrix.
A thread 🧵
My gut says this cyber pandemic is more a panICdemic than anything else. I’m fully prepared to see the nothing ever happens guy all over my feed tomorrow
“These AI hacks are going to come for everyone. They already are… It's just that Bitcoin is the ideal thing to target because it's open source and it's money.”
@realizingerin called it on TFTC three weeks ago. This week an AI-found PHP flaw knocked government websites offline.
I think there are two ways to look at the spiritual symbolism of electric machines. On one hand they extract energy from the elemental realm without giving it back in the same way that biological life does. In this sense they function as a type of foreign parasite whose continual development is entirely limited to the Earth's resources.
But I think it's important to recognize that the material and electricity they are made of are not what is foreign. Rather it is the form and function of these machines. So I don't think it is the flow of electricity that is sub natural. Because, on the other hand every static charge, whether it is coming from a battery or a storm cloud, restores balance between charged ions. Christ attributed this restorative imagery to electricity when He said he “saw satan fall like lightning from heaven.” He very cleverly used the same lightning bolt associated with the power of the storm gods like Zeus and Thor to depict their fall.
The way I see it is that this sub natural threat is in the zero-sum game that we imagine, design, and use electric machines in. If we believe that all power in the universe is limited and that it's on its way to an entropy death, then we will manifest this reality in the tools, art, and entertainment we create. But when we, like the disciples Christ sent out in Mathew 10, ‘freely receive and give’ what God gives us, then we restore balance to the world. Maybe this means that we can give imagine and design electric machines in a way that does not manifest this dystopia. But I’m still sorting through what that actually looks like.
If privacy is crypto's last narrative, it's cooked.
Nobody actually cares about their privacy.
We all should. We just don't.
Also, I love how Haseeb just kind of glosses over the most controversial part of this talk:
namely, that he no longer believes in crypto as the rails for the agentic economy.
If that's the case, crypto is double-cooked.
Add quantum to that...
Why am I still holding?..
Another no-hype late night IRL hang with innovation maxis.
Different builders, different skill sets, one studio.
Could this be the beginning of an invite-only collaboration studio sesh for BIG 🧠 builders? 👀
Asking for a fren.
