Rain should never look like this. Like in so many games, this is way too bright given the ambient lighting.
Rain being water, it's barely visible if:
- it doesn't refract something bright
- it isn't lit by something bright
Raindrop shape is a boring streak, no refraction, variable width, specular highlights, motion blur, depth of field, randomized angle.
Also no rain curtains. No volumetrics. No splashes. Rain isn't dripping from edges & from plants. Except the ground, materials don't look wet.
Rain angle doesn't correspond to the surrounding wind speed.
Thunder doesn't cast a shadow.
Seems like Xbox are going all in on Halo (or thereabouts)
Great news, I can't see a world in which this doesn't lead to more spinoffs made by developers beyond Halo Studios which is good, just a shame it has to come at the cost of severe layoffs elsewhere 🫤
