I have to ask @LabourMinistry @CLCMOLE … why do companies not follow the law when it comes to full and final settlements of employees who have resigned/been terminated.. according to the 17(2) of the Code on Wages passed in 2019.. companies have to settle these in 2 working days, right? But in practice many (certainly my former employer) appear to be flouting the law with impunity…. Have repeatedly asked for clarification only to be told - Without any sensitivity - that it will take 30-45 days!!

@LabourMinistry please educate me here. Am i wrong in expecting the law to be followed? Does the law, in fact, require companies to settle within 48 hours? If so, why are they breaking the law?

In a time when there is already a cost of living crisis, this forces people to scramble for money to feed families… and am i going to get interest on the money due to me that has been delayed?

Maybe the @FinMinIndia can help me understand that?

Genuinely confused here… not naming the company for fear of repercussions. But happy to discuss this in private..

To sum up - when an employee quits or is removed, the law supposedly says s/he must be paid fully within 2 days but many companies, if not all, seem to flout this. Why?
