Nearly two-thirds of Pune's roads do not have footpaths, while 90% of the city's cycle tracks fail to meet quality standards, according to the Pune Municipal Corporation's Environment Status Report (ESR) 2025-26. The report highlights growing concerns over pedestrian safety, accessibility and the city's efforts to promote sustainable transport.

Out of Pune's 2,460.72 km road network, only 747 km have footpaths. The report also found that many women commuters face challenges such as missing footpaths, poor road conditions, safety concerns and inadequate street lighting while walking to bus stops. A review of 35 km of cycle tracks showed that most do not meet expected standards, although Baner Road, Fergusson College Road and Jangli Maharaj Road performed better than others. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Madhav Jagtap said the report has been sent to the Road Department for necessary action.

A citizen has raised concerns over a daily traffic hazard on North Main Road near the MNGL CNG station in Koregaon Park.

According to the complainant, around 40–50 autorickshaws allegedly queue on the wrong side of the road every morning around 9 AM to refuel, leading to traffic congestion and posing a safety risk for commuters.

The complainant claims that local traffic personnel cited the need for directions from higher authorities before action can be taken. A complaint has also reportedly been emailed to the Pune Police Commissioner.

Note: The photos and videos were shared by a citizen. Pune Times Mirror has not independently verified the claims or the authenticity of the footage. The authorities' response is awaited.

वैसे अगर कच्चा तेल 135 होने पर पेट्रोल 125 का हो सकता था तो कच्चा तेल 90 होने पर पेट्रोल कितना का होना चाहिए? वो तो अब भी 105 है तो मतलब नुकसान की भरपाई तो चल ही रही है तो फिर एथनॉल का क्या फायदा हुआ?

Saving bank interest deserves an exemption up to a certain limit in the new regime.
Taxing it at normal slab rates, even when it's just idle money in a savings account, doesn't seem justified.
