I asked a custom Gem to refine its system prompt and it did the unexpected.

The Gem was to help people understand how to write a Financial Aid application and applied several mental models.

But Gemini definitely thought it was too smart for such precise instructions. Given the opportunity, it immediately stripped what it considered fluff.

"A Novice needs a checklist; an Expert needs a directive.", it states.
