@mercoglianos@MSCSealift Salaries that are capped, so those "big bonuses" are deferred and only paid out when they quit or retire. Not really an incentive to stick around and be held for months without leave.
@mcadehaven Yeah - the sheer particulate volume in the air can be a little bothersome, but rain is on deck for the evening to tamp it down a little. Also, sunny days and rainy nights are fine by me!
@mercoglianos Not to mention salary caps and everyone is always called back early and held out at sea generally up to double the minimum time. Can you imagine if federal employees were locked in their office buildings for 8 months straight?!
@mercoglianos A few years ago, they fought the union for a year or more to get out of paying a bonus when an MSC ship was fired at by the same people in the same region twice. IIRC, military personnel got bonuses, but civilians didn't.
@hulu_support This has been happening for YEARS. If you've been looking into it that long without a fix, I don't think you can justify your price increase.
@hulu_support hey I just wasted an hour on chat support for an issue that they couldn't fix despite chat support having fixed the problem in the past - shows I've already watched are popping up again as "start watching" in My Stuff. This happens repeatedly every few weeks.
And since they don't post the link text anymore, that's the USS Wandena, aka the SP-354 from WWI. I don't usually post a lot of Naval history content but this was a photo taken probably by my great grand uncle and it's pretty neat.
Well, this one was kind of interesting, so I'm actually going to manually post the link here since automated posting to twitter is dead.

(Plus, according to a bunch of recent news reports, the update only works if the alarm is triggered, and apparently the car can be broken into without the alarm being triggered, so it's basically useless.

This is SO frustrating.)
Contacted Hyundai about how they cheaped out and didn't include engine immobilizers on certain models. Turns out the fix only works if you use the key fob to lock/unlock the car..
The same key fob that I only used for a week because half the time I'd come back to the trunk open.
(granted, the vehicle in question is one of those weird three-pedal models, so theoretically it's less prone to theft than your average car, but that won't stop someone from busting a window and breaking open the steering column before they realize they can't drive it)
