Yaba Residents Protest Power Blackout Amid Pushback From Police Operatives

Residents of Abule Oja and Abule Ijesha in Yaba, Lagos, have accused Ikeja Electric Distribution Company officials of discriminatory power distribution and systemic corruption. The accusations follow over six months of near-total blackout, with supply reportedly as low as one hour every five days. Aggrieved residents gathered at the company’s Igbobi branch to protest, holding placards and chanting solidarity songs as they demanded an immediate resolution to the poor electricity supply.
