@BlueKeyGames@MasterBismuth Hello! Wow I completely missed this, haven't logged in here in ages. Yeah, there's a mod SDK that has all of Half-Life's game code. And GoldSRC itself? Well, just some headers (public engine API etc.)
Feel free to ask anything about HL SDK code! I did some crazy stuff in it
@_machinecore Yah, the interactive console is powered by FTXUI, and it's a funny story of how it came to be. The engine basically didn't have a renderer a while ago, so I couldn't have an "in-game console", yet I wanted to type in console commands anyway, so I went for this way of doing it
So for years I've been kinda obsessed with Unreal 1's water, and it's something I wanted to do ever since I did my first shader thing in 2019
I think I might be onto something
I made a terminal UI for my engine's developer console, cuz' why not. Surprisingly it only took 2-3 days, since it was my first time using a TUI library (FTXUI in this case)
I haven't posted anything in a while, so here's a bit of everything:
I wrote an octree yesterday. This will be pretty useful for my engine's map compiler
Spoilers: the cursor is in C++ and the circle is in C#. And yes, the source code is available: https://t.co/6PSwMcp3C9
It is truly nothing new, but I haven't been able to find anything on the niche topic of C# scripting in C++ apps
I've been experimenting with embedding C# into C++ apps, and I'm generally happy with the results
In the video, you see an orange line (virtual cursor) and a green circle. Guess which one is in which language :>
@MaestraFenix Thankies
Looking back at that attempt from 2019/2020, the biggest problem was that the thing was entirely serversided, leaving me without any form of visual debugging, and I didn't know how to use the BSP for collision. It's a little different this time
