We must keep these two ideas in mind.

What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you?

We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100+ billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses.

Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there.

Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.

A year ago, a Hindu woman studying at a college in Bhopal filed a police case against a college senior named Farhan that he befriended her under a false identity, and then drugged, raped, blackmailed and forcibly tried to convert her to Islam

Soon after, several women from the same college came forward with similar complaints against different men

Police found that the accused were part of the same gang and had the backing of a criminal named Shariq who is notorious in Bhopal by nickname ‘Machli’

Police found that the accused targeted Hindu girls in a coordinated manner - trapping one girl, then introducing her friend to another gang member, and so on

They also facilitated opportunities for intimacy and then secretly recorded videos

Two of the victims were sisters who had lost their parents long ago and were being raised in poverty by relatives. The scandal left them so shattered that one of them tried to kill herself and still bears a deep scar on her wrist

The revelations were reported as ‘Bhopal sex scandal’

Such was the outrage over the shocking revelations that MP govt got Shariq’s house bulldozed, top police chief of MP got involved, women’s commission got involved, and several accused were arrested. They continue to be in jail

The most important intervention came from NHRC member @KanoongoPriyank

He closely monitored progress of the case, ensuring it was not diluted. Such was his impact that a close aide of Shariq once reached his office in Delhi and asked him to withdraw from the matter. Priyank Ji threw him out of his office. The incident was widely covered by the media

Now comes his most significant intervention

He conceptualised a program to educate college girls across Bhopal about this racket as well as legal and social support available to any girl who is trapped but either is not recognising it yet or is too scared to break free

This program, named Sankalp, was taken up by @sewanyaya, run by @SanjeevSanskrit and me, and implemented through our partner @NetworkforJus

We selected a group of women college students from Bhopal, trained them and deployed them to conduct large-scale awareness sessions across campuses

In the past eight months, this group has educated over 8,000 girls across 100 colleges in Bhopal

During the program, several who attended these sessions later reached out to the team privately and managed to get out of such situations, while three went on to file actual police cases.

Yesterday, Priyank Ji and I were in Bhopal to mark the highly successful completion of the first year of this programme, along with MP Child Commission Chairperson Nivedita Sharma and the senior leadership of the LNCT Group of Colleges

I also met the remarkable trainers, mentored by the superb @nidhikartikey and @SalujaSanat

And I also met three victims of the scandal

Their stories are disturbing and I will share them another time

But I saw they have found their strongest support system and closest friends in the Sankalp team

Navodaya schools admit students on the basis of an entrance exam. There is 75% reservation for rural students. There is also a minimum of 15% SC, 7% ST and 27% OBC reservation as per law.
So how is it elitist ?

Regarding funding, can you clarify what do you think state govt is supposed to fund ? Publicly available docs say state govt is responsible only for providing land free of cost and that all operating expenses are borne by central govt.

Education is a concurrent list subject. And in any case this is not a replacement of state govt schools - but is instead a model school which complements them.

If we say no interference in any state subject, why are we asking for AIIMS Madurai when health is a state subject ?

The only objection left is 3 language policy. Given that Navodaya schools are voluntary, parents who find that unacceptable don't have to enroll there. DMK leaders have said time and again that they are only against compulsory imposition of Hindi. That is clearly not the case here. What is the problem then ? Why deny that opportunity to parents who might be ok with their child learning Hindi ?

When I say I am against reservation, that doesn't mean I am against the concept of reservation itself. Rather, I believe the way it has been implemented in our country is problematic.

Take this example, this Sejal girl got an MBBS seat with 406 marks through the ST category. Just to put that into perspective, some students don't get an MBBS seat even after scoring 600+ marks. I myself had to take a drop year after scoring 600.

Now look at the lifestyle she follows. I find it hard to believe that she lacked resources or opportunities during her school years.

On the other hand, the people for whom this reservation was originally intended, the genuinely underprivileged tribal communities, often don't even know what NEET-UG is, let alone have the awareness, or resources needed to pursue an MBBS degree. The person who should ideally benefit from this reservation is often nowhere in the picture, while privileged individuals continue to take advantage of a system that was created to uplift the underprivileged.

I don't understand how this system, in its current form, is supposed to reduce social inequality. While there are certainly cases where genuinely deserving individuals benefit from reservation, but in majority instances the reality appears very different.

HyperQuest removes slanderous content, but should I sue for defamation?

On June 6, HyperQuest, a popular YouTube channel and Instagram page, published several videos criticising one of my recent podcasts. The content in these videos went far beyond factual criticism—Vishal Chaurasia made unsubstantiated and unprovable slanderous remarks about my credibility and character. The slanderous content remained online for six days.

Last night, out of the blue, Vishal Chaurasia messaged me on WhatsApp, stating that he realised he had crossed a line by making remarks about my credibility and character. He added that he had edited out the personal remarks and taken down the related short-form content. The original YouTube video on HyperQuest was 13 minutes and 40 seconds long; it is now down to 9 minutes and 1 second (34% of the video’s content has been removed). The short content on Instagram has also been deleted. While I welcome these penitential measures, the videos had already been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people before they were edited or removed. Unfortunately, the damage to my reputation is a fait accompli.

Factual criticism is perfectly fine. I do not mind even ridicule or abuse—it is part of life for people engaged in public discourse. However, unsubstantiated and unprovable remarks about credibility and character are not acceptable. Over the past week, several well-wishers have advised me to file a defamation suit against HyperQuest and Vishal Chaurasia. I recall the defamation suit filed by Javed Akhtar, who sought just ₹1 (one rupee) in damages and an apology, against Kangana Ranaut for making defamatory statements about him in television interviews and public appearances. That suit was settled amicably through mediation after five years, following Kangana’s unconditional apology.

I have saved the documentary evidence, including the full original video. Should I demand a public apology from HyperQuest and Vishal Chaurasia? And if that does not come, should I sue them for ₹1 (one rupee) and an apology? Or should I make the defamation amount ₹3.14, since the topic of discussion is mathematics?

GLISCO-DS created protests against Adani in Kenya for a deal they secured with the govt of Kenya by doing propaganda that the project affects the environment, is over priced etc.

This was entirely done using social media in Kenya instigating their citizens against India and Adani by state sponsored psyops.

The protests in Kenya was also used to hit Adani in India by turning Indians against the company and used for politics. Now, a few years later, a Chinese company got the same project for 1.5x the price Adani quoted and won.

There are no protests in Kenya now. It is the same project, same environmental concerns, much higher price, and we can be sure the project will use mostly Chinese engineers and won't care much about any regulation.

Please tell this story to your concerned friend who gets easily instigated against India's companies and development plans seeing Insta reels. Share it with your Kenyan friends.
