Yesterday, Safeguarding minister @Dines4Dales hosted an event in parliament with acid attack survivors @KatiePiper_ and @theandreas.
We are committed to doing what we can to prevent acid attacks, having introduced measures in the Offensive Weapons Act to stop corrosive substances being used as weapons, manage sale & distribution of acid, & ensure strong punishments for those who do.
Legislation alone won’t prevent attacks, which is why conversations like this, which brought together victims, academics, law enforcement and industry, are so important as we consider what more can be done to protect our society.
Today I hosted an event in parliament with @KatiePiper_ & @theandreas & heard first hand about their experiences as survivors of acid attacks & the impact on their lives, but more importantly some of their ideas on what more we can do to tackle & prevent attacks. (1/3)
Great meeting at the Home Office today with @theandreas & @CharlotteBTobin - we are determined to keep conversation going to make real change & find real solution to acid attack violence in this country.
Change is possible - I am determined!
@WhiteBit Can you tell me why when holding #safemoon on your platform we don’t revive the redistribution of #SFM? I’ve asked several times but haven’t been given an answer.
