What is @thestrangeclan?

And how does it fit into the @passageio virtual platform?

Here's a quick recap.

The original goal back in 2021 when we launched Strange Clan was to create a uniquely social adventure game - fight, craft, and quest as a group.

On the surface, it seems like a tired formula, but we had a secret weapon:

Passage.

Passage was a platform for taking these unwieldy worlds in Unreal Engine and making them accessible in 1 click from any device - no downloads, no load times. Instant access always.

It started as a unique way to host events, and we built out experiences for Amazon, Capitol Records, and Scooter Braun before we decided to make this accessible for everyone.

With Passage, we could create a game with a very unique mixture of Unreal Engine's scale and immersion, the ease and accessibility of mobile games, plus an element of social and hyper-casual that hasn't been seen before.

It's a big experiment, I know, but it has some wild potential.

Where are we at now?

We've done extensive world building in Unreal Engine - characters, environments, fx, and more, 100% custom built for this story, this world.

We had a fun, but limited, test of some mobility, questing, and puzzling mechanics.

Now we're connecting these pieces to the Passage blockchain.

What's next?

Soon you'll be able to use your Strange Clan character to access exclusive community events in Passage.

Then we'll be hatching the Strange Clan eggs that will be your virtual companions and mounts in the Strange Clan world.

After that?

Then we fight, craft, and quest inside a Passage world.

If you haven't been in Passage, it's hard to imagine how unique this is, but it's almost like bringing a Twitter Space into the Legend of Zelda.

Like Nintendo and Zoom had a baby.

It makes for a much more social gaming experience, and we're looking forward to showcasing where this wild experiment can go as we iterate on these features inside Passage.

This was back in 2020 when we were building for Amazon, Capitol Records, and other huge brands.

We were doing virtual events in a way that no one else could at the time.

The reactions we got then were what convinced me we had to turn this into a product, and Passage has come a long ways since then.
