Former Mesa Mayor John Giles, who is a lifelong Republican, recently announced his endorsement of Gov. Katie Hobbs for re-election as the state's highest ranking official.

@MichaelPruser Oregon Dems made a huge jump from 2016 to 2020. Wonder if we’re just starting to see things rebalance back towards 2016 levels or if this is indicative of a larger trend.
@npthree@Garrett_Archer@jeffmetcalfe Republicans have increased their lead in registrations over Democrats in recent years by a meaningful margin. A string of bad Republican candidates is what gives it the illusion of a purple to blue state.
@LDS_Dems 40% is actually pretty high, especially when studies show that only 10-20% of insured people don’t use their health insurance in a given year. There could be legitimate reasons why Obamacare may have higher than average rates of non-use, but the percentage warrants a look.
@ryanswalters73 LDS believe that Christ’s Atonement consists of His suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross, His death, and His Resurrection. Christ’s suffering in the garden as an essential part of the Atonement seems like a fundamental Christian belief though that isn’t limited to Mormonism.
@TaylorPetrey This actually supports the opposite conclusion. Active Church members are overwhelmingly Republican, yet Republicans only slightly outnumber Democrats among former members. This suggests that Democrats are leaving at higher rates than Republicans.
@Latterdaytruth Would be cool. I’d also love to see them make chapels big enough to accommodate an entire congregation in the pews. We shouldn’t have half the congregation regularly seated in metal chairs on a basketball court.
@Manhattva A breaking point is inevitable at some point. A political alliance between the Church and the religious right was only going to last so long.
@rockinpessimism@BurtMaclin_FBI Seems like you’re already there brother. Trolling twitter arguing about a religion you supposedly left decades ago sure sounds hellish to me.
@rockinpessimism@BurtMaclin_FBI We don’t want to be in your club and acknowledge we are vastly different on some core doctrines. We just ask for honesty in recognizing our beliefs, which are that Jesus is the risen savior of the world and the eternal God.
@davverista Heb. 1:3 doesn’t use “substance” in the same way the creeds do. The point isn’t that the creeds are illegitimate, just that they introduce extra-biblical concepts rather than merely summarize the Biblical text.
Those two beliefs are exclusive. One cannot believe in the integrity and finality of the New Testament yet believe that subsequent creeds are necessary to clarify the scriptural text.
We constantly explain why; Mormons simply reject the explanation. To be a Christian you must believe in the Trinity and in the integrity and finality of the New Testament.
@davverista The biblical text actually allows for a number of reasonable interpretations, which is partly why new conceptual definitions developed in the creeds.
