O repórter responsável por publicar falsas alegações de prostituição contra o Ju Haknyeon (THE BOYZ) foi indiciado por difamação sob a Lei de Redes de Informação e Comunicação.

O repórter Choi foi indiciado sem detenção no dia 12 de maio, após Haknyeon ter registrado queixa em junho do ano passado. A investigação confirmou que o repórter afirmou falsamente que “Ju Haknyeon admitiu a prostituição após a empresa apresentar provas concretas”, o que foi desmentido pelas investigações.

O repórter alegou não saber que as acusações eram falsas, mas o Supremo Tribunal determinou que mesmo que o repórter acreditasse na veracidade das informações, a publicação ainda seria ilegal. Haknyeon havia alegado consistentemente que alguém estava por trás das falsas acusações e que um oficial não identificado conspirou com o repórter para fabricar o relatório falso.
