one thing we will have for @asph0d37 mainnet: notifications
we really wanted to lean in to a mobile-first build this time... so you'll know when your matches finish and can play the game as you go :D
we're likely the only startup, possibly the only company, with a comprehensive thesis on how our alternate realities emerge. we've watched startups come and go, all failing to answer the question of why
why build in this way. why go through all the trouble of building fully onchain, hosting our games under sovereign state. why design under the harshest tech constraints, the most brutal operational environment known to gaming. we stand in a graveyard
we spent 4 years thinking about the problem and built the most absurd onchain game most have never heard of. @kamigotchiworld proved out our thesis that permanence invites capital
now we're developing our worlds on the most premium virtual real estate known to humankind. because now is the time to build on Ethereum, the sacred ground of sovereign tech. the $350B capital base that everyone has heard of. excited to see you all at launch
The @asph0d37 whitepaper is now live.
We've been working on this project for 4 years, but this is the first time I've explained what Asphodel actually is.
You should read it. Or maybe you should have an agent read it for you.

GM.
The @asph0d37 playtest turned out to be a very thorough trial of our systems... we had 48k mints/rerolls, 33k duels, and 706 festivals in total.
That means 706 Marked Taruchi....
(Also, our infra crashed at least 5 times. Probably more. We didn't track that one.)
Oh, for exact times...
The @asph0d37 playtest event will end at 4pm UTC on Friday. A snapshot will be taken and in-game scores will be frozen there.
The content competition will run for an extra 48h - until 4pm UTC on Sunday, so you have time to make content afterwards.
The @asph0d37 playtest has begun. It will run for one week.
As well as a permanent mainnet item for Asphodel and @kamigotchiworld, there's $3333 in rewards available, split between in-game goals and a content competition.
Start playing at the link below!
The @asph0d37 public playtest will open on Friday, May 15th at approximately 4PM UTC.
It will run for 1 week, and will be free and open to everyone. It will take place on the Sepolia testnet.
There will be an in-game reward for all players who successfully complete the playtest and survive the Festival of Consecration. This reward will follow you to mainnet and to @kamigotchiworld.
There will also be $3333 USDC in incentives available, split between in-game rewards and a content competition. If you want to compete for these rewards, start early!
Full documentation and details will be available closer to launch.
polishing the @asph0d37 prologue more and more daily. thanks to the people testing rn for all the feedback :)
there's a level of animation and visual flair present now that we never got to add to @kamigotchiworld. makes me want to go back and add more animations....
There's still polish to do but @asph0d37 is almost ready.
The playtest will be open to everyone. There will be rewards to compete for, some in ETH, some in-game. More details soon.
We're launching a new onchain game on @ethereum mainnet soon.
It's called Asphodel. We'll be dropping a playtest next week and the game will go to mainnet in May.
If you want to hear about it, instead of about other games shutting down, put me or @asph0d37 on notifications.
On one hand, I am an Ethereum permabull. I really do believe it is the only blockchain we need for the long term, and I feel strongly about the world computer concept.
My portfolio is just ETH, ETH NFTs, and my own projects form of wrapped ETH, ONYX. At the moment I still assume we will move @kamigotchiworld and other @asph0d37 worlds to the Ethereum L1 at some point when the chain is sufficiently ossified. I am sure we will eventually get there.
On the other hand, anyone not getting cynical about the EF leadership at this point is taking the piss. To give an analogy; it is possible to believe in Jesus Christ and also to get suspicious when the local parish priest keeps insisting on showering with the choirboys. These are not incompatible perspectives to hold.
A few years ago, L2s were the future. I notice a lot of people close to the EF got $OP tokens in order to build this future. I also note they sold a lot of those tokens, and after they were done selling, declared that L2s were no longer the future and moved back to 'scaling the L1'.
Continuing to enable this gulf in leadership, and a repeated pattern of behaviour that is either deeply sus or profoundly naive, is not necessary in order to support decentralisation.
No matter how many people provide thought-terminating cliches to shut down discussion of this; this behaviour has cost a lot of trust, and a lot of sincere faith, throughout the community. That lack of trust is now here to stay.
